By majority vote of the faculty of the School of Music, in response to our recent campus events:

We, the faculty of the School of Music, value every member of our community. We support the voices of our black students and colleagues as they lead the conversation toward healing for all of us. We recognize this is a difficult time and support each person's right to express himself or herself thoughtfully and respectfully.

We embrace this opportunity for engagement and commit to leading by listening, showing empathy, and being non-judgmental, supportive, and communicative. We remain a faculty with a strong commitment to our students and our university and stand ready to work through our issues together, both in and outside of class/meetings, with both students and administrators.
