MUSIC LITERATURE FOR NON-MUSIC MAJORS

Responsibilities: Teach music literature/appreciation courses for undergraduate non-music majors. Provide service to the University
and the profession.
Qualifications: Doctorate or ABD in music history. Demonstrated skill in teaching music history/literature at the college or university level. Preference will be given to a strong generalist who is an outstanding teacher. Completion of a minor or significant study in non-Western music or jazz is desirable. Must have excellent interpersonal skills. Demonstrated commitment to diversity.
Rank/Salary: Visiting Assistant Professor. One-year, non-tenure-track appointment, with the possibility of renewal for a second year. Salary for the 2008-09 academic year will be $40,000 plus benefits.

Music at the University

The University of Missouri has an enrollment of 27,000 students. The campus is located in a community of 90,000 in mid-Missouri, a center of cultural, academic, and research activity. The School of Music is composed of 34 full-time music faculty, 34 teaching assistants, and 210 music majors, and offers bachelor's and master's degrees in performance, conducting, composition, music history, music theory, and music education. Doctoral study is also available in music education.
